The Senior Customer Interface Engineering Manager will be in charge of communicating between the Japan OEMs and company. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting and conveying the customer’s needs and requirements to company’s global team and vice versa. A key goal is to achieve flawless launches for every program and ensure alignment of requirements and goals between the customer and company.
This position has several reports including customer interface SW, HW, and validation engineers.
・Manage customer interface engineering team in Japan including personnel development and escalation support.
・Work with customer engineering management team to execute communication strategy and drive completion of customer / internal deliverables
・Interpret and/or negotiate customer requirements for core engineering
・Ensure traceability between customer requirements and test cases.
・Lead change management and negotiation for customer change requests.
・Detailed HW and SW DRBFM reviews with the customer’s engineers.
・Support initial investigations for field and development issues at customers’ sites.
・Identify and facilitate country-specific certification and meeting of regulations.
・Facilitate customer drawing submission process including maintenance of notes, standards, and labels.
・Ensure adherence to engineering best practices / processes and facilitate creation of new best practices as appropriate
・Manage / coordinate customer communication with Japan OEMs and build a good relationship with them.
・Coordinate communications between core engineering team and Japan OEMs.
・Bachelors in Engineering
・8+ years related electronics experience including direct management experience
・5+ years in automotive engineering
・Proficient in Japanese language
・Able to communicate in English (spoken and written)
・Experience as a supplier to Japanese carmakers
・Experience in consulting and/or client-facing role is preferred
・Proven and effective communication, analytical, judgment, initiative and execution skills.
・Expertise in driving complex cost reduction projects and program deliverables

・Experience with managing distributed development teams is preferred
